ARTmostfierce Affordable Print Pick of the Week

ARTmostfierce Affordable Print Pick of the Week
This one is coming all the way from The West Coast via DNJ Gallery in Los Angeles  and by Photographer Richard Giles.

Happy Shopping!

Here is more info:
In celebration of Autumn, dnj Gallery is pleased to offer a limited edition photograph, "15012 W. Avenue D," by the artist Richard Gilles. This single image is available in an edition of 50 photographs; the 3.5" x 8.5" inkjet print is $50.

Richard Gilles, 15012 W. Avenue D, inkjet print, 2009, 3.5 x 8.5 inches
In his panoramic photographs, Gilles' subjects are the bits and pieces that lie abandoned along America's roadways. This detritus, ordinarily lacking any real significance, is elevated as it becomes the central focus of the picture. Is it a minimalist object whose message is only that which the viewer brings to it? Or does it have another meaning? Either way, Gilles' photographs reveal an optimistic appreciation for the simplicity of the object.

Please contact the gallery for further information.

ABOUT

As any artist or photographer can tell you, independently funding a full body of work and preparing the work for exhibition involves constant financial struggle. Receiving a grant to make Removing Mountains in 2007 was amazing, but if I kept waiting for another large sum of money to be awarded, I might never make another project. In 2009, I launched a print sale to hit the road for part one of a two-part trip to Southeast Ohio. The result of that trip is the edit of Plume that is currently on my website. I was able to fund the trip entirely through your generosity.

Plume is almost done. After one more trip to the region this summer, I will be able to make a complete edit and begin showing the work. Later this year I will have my first full exhibition of the work at the Appalachian Center in Kentucky. I’m launching a second print sale effort to fund the return travels to the region this summer and prepare for the Kentucky show and future exhibitions.

If you’re looking at this page, thank you, sincerely. I know not everybody who wants to help financially can, so if you’d like to help me out, post this link on your blog, Twitter, Facebook, whatever. Send an email to your uncle who likes pretty pictures. If you help me promote this on your blog, shoot me an email, and I’ll send you a thank-you in the mail (maybe a print, maybe something else).

This sounds mostly like business, but beyond issues of funding, I’m 100% committed to spending dedicated time in a region that has been the victim of duck-in/duck-out photojournalism and media-driven, grossly misrepresented stereotypes. Additionally, politically, at the center of this work is the issue of energy as it relates to our ability to distribute power in every form. 2010 is a year where I/we can feel one step closer to this conversation entering the public arena in a substantial way.

PRINT SALE

Note: All prints are postage paid in the US, email me for overseas shipping. If you are interested in purchasing a few prints, a discount will be available. Anyone who buys a print, even an 8×10″, will be thanked personally on my website.

To order, email me at dsheaphoto@gmail.com.

Photos by Ryan Pfluger

Ok Folks!
Ryan Pfluger needs to raise money for two shows and a book . Here is a change to get some limited edition fab pirnts for only $60.00. Open your wallets and help out.The is a choice of 4 and the Twilda Swilton is one of my favorites. I own quite a few and Ryan always delivers quality!
Happy Shopping!

Here is from Ryan himself:

Hey all. So I haven't done one of these in quite some time, solely because allowing people to choose images became way way too complicated. However, I soon will need to print and frame a lot of pieces for two upcoming shows. I also am putting together a small book, and the costs are more than I foresaw. So, I have choose 4 of my favorite new pieces. Two editorial, two personal up for grabs. Each print will be in an edition of 20, and cost 60$ which includes shipping *US only*, 11x14. Mind you, it will take 2-4 weeks for you to receive after the order has been placed, to give me adequate time for printing and shipping. I would really appreciate you telling your friends, re-posting on other blogs and alike. As always, you my fans are really what keeps me going and the support is always very much appreciated. So pass the message along. I will be taking orders until next Sunday, the 16th.

To place an order, just email ryan@ryanpfluger.com to make sure the print is still available and then paypal will be to the same email address. As always, thank you again. Hopefully you like the images I have picked and will want them in your home.

Much love,

ryan

Well ...here is a new site with some pretty good photographers and its limited edition prints. I personally liked the work of Jessica Kaufman my friend and fellow photographer and the work Ryan Schude a Los Angeles photographer. Ryan's web site is worth taking a look, if you want to start collecting new affordable edgy work. Prices are great. My best advise to you greedy collectors and buyers...get the largest images if possible. I know... no more 8 x 10 for me. Way too many already, now it is a matter of size for me! ha ha!

Oh you can thank my fellow collector/squirrel Cesar Llacuna for this tip. He is always on the case!
