One Hour Photo...

EXHIBITIONS

Some of this year's current and upcoming exhibitions:
Very excited about this one!

One Hour Photo
On view: May 8—June 6, 2010

American University Museum at the Katzen Arts Center
Washington, DC
Hours: 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Tue-Sun

One Hour Photo is a very exciting project that I'm thrilled to be part of. The concept for the show was created by Adam Good and curated with Chandi Kelley and Chajana denHArder.
One Hour Photo distills the photograph to the ultimate limited edition: 60 minutes. Photographic works will be projected for one hour each, after which they will never be seen again, by anyone, in any form. Each work will exist only in the limited moments of perception, in the individual and collective experience, then memory, of the observers.

Here is what Chajana Den Harder had to say about my submission:

Dear Ruben,

Congratulations! Your work has been selected for inclusion in One Hour Photo. We received an overwhelming number of submissions from over 20 countries, and we are thrilled with the final selection. We hope you are as excited as we are that your work will be the show for the hour it is projected.

So, first, a toast, to you: thank you, thank you, thank you for your generous, thoughtful, and powerful piece. This show literally could not exist without you and your commitment to the concept. We know it is not easy to give up your work, and appreciate it more than we can say.

Finally, I’m happy to tell you that we’ve selected your work for the closing of the show. While the rest of the show’s schedule is randomized, we wanted to program the opening and closing with work that we felt best represented the concepts of the show. We felt that your work fit the bill perfectly. The other artists in the closing are Penelope Umbrico, Clayton Cotterell, Matt Gamber and Ann Woo. If possible, we’ve love for you to attend the closing on June 6. We know this is short notice, and that DC might be a bit far to travel, but we’d love for you to attend, if possible.

Thank you once again for the generosity of your submission and your support for this project. We are truly honored to have you in the show.

Sincerely,
Chajana
