Photos by Alex Leme entries for Photolucida's Critical Mass 2009
Alex Leme says-"Literary Ghosts" series I have always found libraries to be accommodating, peaceful and welcoming spaces brimming with fascinating people, mysterious aisles and compelling stories. Literary Ghosts is a photo essay that intends to depict the elusive, poetic and haunting qualities of those places. This is much more a character study than a mere portrayal of their content, and physical characteristics. I want to dig deeper and explore the ghosts, mysteries, secrets, victories and tragedies surrounding libraries. This work is supposed to be a photo interview, a romantic and beautiful visual reference to the essence of these institutions.
I like these photo series for the interaction between humans and the geometric almost rigid and constricted quality of the spaces. They have a great sense of graphic, color composition and order...almost the way you are suppossed to behave while in a library...SILENCE please!
A YES!
