Photography by Brian Shumway
Book Editor- Ruben Natal-San Miguel
I found Brian ShumwayBlack Girl series while doing work as a pre-screening juror during Photolucida's Critical Mass 2010. Black Girl is beautifully portrayed and posessess a very strong social message that is continuously mentioned and highly criticized in the headlines news over the years but as yet there is no big social reforms taken about it. The ongoing Racism in the fashion and modeling industry still prevails and hope, that this book reinforces the issue and demonstrates to the world that BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL!
Vote today and stay tuned...there is more coming up about Black Girl very soon!!!

This is the best definition that, I had come across so far to define what a real street photographer truly is:
A good street photographer must be possessed of many talents: an eye for detail, light, and composition; impeccable timing; a populist or humanitarian outlook; and a tireless ability to constantly shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot and never miss a moment. It is hard enough to find these qualities in trained photographers with the benefit of schooling and mentors and a community of fellow artists and aficionados supporting and rewarding their efforts. It is incredibly rare to find it in someone with no formal training and no network of peers.
